Mac preview 0.2.3 uses FFmpeg 9.0.2 with replaceable shared libraries, built without GPL, nonfree or version 3 components and without external codec autodetection. The full unmodified source archive, LGPL 2.1 text and build recipe are included both in the app and companion download.

Windows preview 0.2.4 uses the BtbN FFmpeg 8.1 LGPL shared build. Its license and exact source/build references are included in the package and companion download.

whisper.cpp 1.9.4 and the OpenAI Whisper tiny.en model use separate MIT licenses. Both notices are included.

Images, search and runtime

sharp and its native libvips distribution include several components with individual licenses. The companion includes the exact libvips 8.18.7 source, pinned sharp-libvips 1.3.4 build recipes and patches, component version list and license map. The build recipes identify matching source versions for the bundled dependencies. The sharp-libvips combined library is LGPL 3; the companion includes both LGPL 3 and GPL 3 texts alongside the individual component license map.

The MiniLM semantic model is Apache 2.0; its model card and license text are included. The packaged Node runtime retains its full license file. Electron and Chromium notices are included in each platform package.

Your rights under these licenses

startupOS does not restrict replacing or modifying LGPL components, or reverse engineering for debugging those changes. Compatible replacement libraries may require your own local code signature on macOS. No automatic updater or license lock prevents replacing those components. These rights do not make an unsigned preview an operating-system-certified release.
